Dr.
Gordon D. Ko
Dr. Gordon Ko is a specialist in Physical Medicine
and Rehabilitation (Physiatrist), certified by both
the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada
and the American Board of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation.
He also holds a certificate of special competency
in Emergency Medicine through the College of Family
Naturopathic Physicians of Canada. In addition to
these qualifications, Dr. Ko is a certified independent
medical examiner and recently received his subspecialty
American board certification in Pain Medicine.
As Medical Director of the Canadian Centre for Integrative
Medicine, Dr. Ko works with specialists in anesthesiology,
rheumatology, medical acupuncture, orthopaedic medicine
and allied health professionals (biofeedback, manipulative
physiotherapy, chiropractic, nutrition) to provide
a multidisciplinary approach to the diagnosis and
management of chronic pain and disability.
In addition to his busy clinical practice, Dr. Ko
is active in academic work and research at the Sunnybrook
and Women’s College Health Sciences Centre,
University of Toronto. His major research interest
lies in emerging treatments (Alternative medicine,
Botox, Cannabinoids) for fibromyalgia and chronic
low back pain syndromes. A former president of the
Chinese Canadian Medical Society, Dr. Ko is active
in numerous professional organizations and specialty
societies, including the American Association of Electrodiagnostic
Medicine, American Naturopathic Medical Association
(Board Certified) and both the American and Canadian
(executive director) Associations of Orthopaedic Medicine.
Dr. Ko and his wife (a family physician) strive for
balance in managing a busy household of four young
children and relieve stress with boxercise and kickboxing.
He is also active with community and church activities
including third world medical volunteer work in Belize
(1980’s) and more recently in Honduras.
